de Gournay were thrilled to be part of the Winter Antiques Show 2017. For the second year running we collaborated with Kentshire and Hyde Park Antiques. Showcasing one new design and one new colourway, it was a very exciting event to start the new year!
Founded in 1965, Hyde Park Antiques specializes in the finest 18th and early 19th century English furniture. The gallery offers both the experienced collector and the interested novice the opportunity to view the most extensive inventory in North America, dealing exclusively in period antiques. Beautiful antique mirrors were hung against our Wood Ash slub silk. And in the ante room, we showcased our Chatsworth design in a brand new colourway; the unicorn colourway. With soft toned colours, creams and violets, painted onto antiqued gilded silk, the walls picked up the most beautiful sheen. A variety of profusely flowering trees formed a dense canopy whereby large exotic birds were perched and smaller colourful birds darted between the leaves and branches and around the beautiful Hyde Park antiques. The densely designed wallpaper gives the feel of the original 18th century Chinese botanical papers.
Established in 1940 and spanning three generations of family ownership, Kentshire Galleries is one of the foremost dealers of fine period and estate jewellery. Siblings, Carrie and Matthew Imberman are the third generation to lead Kentshire, and they continue to refine the gallery’s founding vision: buying and selling outstanding jewellery and objects of enduring design and elegance. This year we provided them with our stunning new hand painted Silk Tree design. With detailed pink silk flowers hanging from elegant gold leaves, the design is luxurious, with a fresh twist. The design falls from the ceiling around Kentshire’s cases, while the gold compliments the jewellery beautifully - the booth a dazzling jewel box in itself.
It has been a huge pleasure being part of the Winter Antiques Show, and we hope you had a chance to visit the show.
