Within their newly opened Los Angeles residence, de Gournay is delighted to present a staging of works by the celebrated masters of handwoven craft, Atelier Vime.
Showcased throughout the residence for a month-long exhibit, the company’s hand-painted wallpapers and hand-embroidered wallcoverings set a splendid backdrop to Atelier Vime’s exquisite repertoire of handwoven wicker, manufactured by their own dedicated artisans in Vallabrègues, Provence.
Envisaged as a residential interior, rather than showroom, de Gournay’s house amidst the Hollywood Hills offers visitors a captivating insight into the unique artistry of the brand – presenting the designs as clients might incorporate them into their own homes.
The works of Atelier Vime are thus brought to life in a setting that naturally amplifies both their functional and decorative facets: a mutually illuminating exercise for both mediums.
To further honour the collaboration, de Gournay has introduced a new porcelain dinner service designed with Atelier Vime. Named ‘Botanique Tissé’, the hand-painted porcelain depicts festoons of blue ribbon unfurling around sprays of leafy willow, nettle, chestnut, and grapevine. Based on 18th century graveur illustrations of botanical specimens that can be woven, the bespoke design evokes the artisanal spirit that typifies the Atelier Vime brand, as well as de Gournay’s mastery of centuries-old traditional porcelain making techniques.
