Coronation Chocolate Boxes
With Charbonnel & Walker, the United Kingdom’s first luxury chocolatiers, de Gournay’s hand painted expertise has for the first time been applied to a limited run of chocolate boxes – created in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in May.
Taking as a theme ‘The Garden of England’, in reference to his achievements as the Prince of Wales championing the environment through The Duchy of Cornwall, a bespoke design depicting British flora and fauna has been individually hand painted onto a select edition of 75 boxes. The 1000g gift boxes are filled with a signature selection of Fine Milk and Dark chocolates and can also be filled to a bespoke selection and dietary requirements.
A Springtime bouquet of Lily of the valley, Forget Me Not, Foxglove, Honeysuckle, Morning Glory, Dog Rose and Crab Apple ornament each box lid in a splendid encirclement: hand painted onto a ground of Pine Green silk, with a Red Squirrel, Robin and Chaffinch depicted amidst Bumblebees and Butterflies.
Purveyors of fine chocolates and truffles since 1875, Charbonnel et Walker still hand make confectionary according to traditional recipes coined by their founders – Madame Charbonnel & Mrs. Walker – at a time when hand painted Chinese wallpapers adorned the finest households of Europe. In pairing the specialities of two such illustrious brands, the first Coronation in 70 years is to be commemorated with an unforgettable piece of unique memorabilia.
