– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –
Hand embroidered in tones of bronze gold, Plume depicts swirling wisps of smoke that float across the walls. The design employs a variety of techniques, using a combination of French knots, sequins, and metal threads that, within each twist of the design, grade to enhance the illusion of smoke. Darker shades of metallic thread and beading are applied to the narrower parts of the design, to further elevate the appearance of billowing plumes. Designed by Nicole Hollis, the original installation continued the design onto the ceiling of the room and the drapery.
