For the 2018 Salone del Mobile fair in Milan, de Gournay are excited to unveil a new design as part of an exciting presentation at Nilufar Gallery: the renowned exhibition space and concept store and gallery founded by curator, dealer and aesthete Nina Yashar.

Paris based architect and designer India Mahdavi, celebrated worldwide for her striking contemporary interiors, has imagined an exclusive club environment in celebration of their creative affiliation. ‘Chez Nina’ conjures a vivid atmosphere, decorated with custom velvet banquettes from India Madhavi’s collection of silk velvets for Pierre Frey, and glass tables in bright pastel tones alongside antiques from Yashar’s own collection by some of the best known names in Italian design: Gio Ponti, Angelo Lelli and Martino Gamper.

Uniting these elements is a custom wallpaper by de Gournay, depicting a largescale geometric composition in rich Purple and earthy Green. The silken mural provides a theatrical setting to the space, open to select guests and members only for the occasion of the fair. Painted by hand onto a textured dupion silk ground, sections of gilded aluminium leaf add a subtle gleam to the geometric pattern within the sombre lighting of the interior.
Corresponding to the increased demand for more graphic motifs, de Gournay are proud to offer an engaging example of this new expression that applies a decorative embellishment with modernist perspective.
