A PAIR OF 18” PARROTS
The Qianlong period (1736 - 1795) design for this pair of ‘famille rose’ palette parrots is thought most likely to date from circa 1760. Each bird is finely modelled in opposing but not symmetrical form, perched on specialist glazed rockwork with one leg raised and claws closed tightly. The heads are cocked alertly and the plumage is picked out in bright enamels against the iron-red head and breast feathers detail.
