A PAIR OF 4” INCENSE DOGS

A pair of famille rose crouching pug dogs modelled as Taperstick or candle holders after Jiaquing period original pieces. Their faces turned upwards expectantly on iron red decorated bodies with finely rendered gilt details to simulate fur. Bearing holders on their backs decorated with lotus brocade on a gold ground and carried upon lotus brocade panels modelled as over rugs from which four legs and gilt burnished tail emerge.
