KANGXI TIGER

Octagonal Baluster vase reproduced by de Gournay following an early 18th century Kangxi original (circa 1720), with scenes painted in a mixture of underglaze blue and overglaze onto the flat flared upper and lower panels, showing mountanious landscapes, pagodas, pavilions and birds in flight. Admist flowering peony, lotus & chrysanthemum plants all reserved on detailed flower-head ground. The flat central octagonal panels with an iron-red geometric ground, bordered with bands of key-fret and inset with petal shaped floral cartouches.
