DECORATIVE OBJECTS
Inspired by historic originals, many from the 18th century, de Gournay’s decorative objects include vases, lamps and figurines, each handmade and hand-painted using traditional techniques. The objects are created through a process that has endured in Jingdezhen for centuries: modelled first in clay, then cast and sculpted in porcelain before glazing and decoration. Subtle fingerprints left within the forms speak to the human touch inherent in their making, while hand-painted enamels, applied with the finest brushes, bring feathers, fur and fabric to life in exquisite detail.
