La Chasse de Compiègne
Brume on scenic paper
– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –
La Chasse de Compiègne is a reproduction of a mural by the same name first published by Jacquemart, Paris in 1812 and designed by Carle Vernet. The scene starts with a stag hunting party leaving the Chateau at Compiègne, once a royal residence of Louis XV, accompanied by a carriage reputed to carry the Queen of Naples and follows the hunt proper across the countryside ending with a post hunt picnic underneath the ruins of Chateau de Pierrefonds.
