Laden with leaves and fruit, tendril-like branches wind upwards in a bold and graphic style in ‘Orchard’. Referencing French couturier Paul Poiret’s striking display for a 1913 model dining room within a Berlin department store, our rendition reimagines the simple design in full hand-embroidery on a linen ground, incorporating raffia threads with touches of hand-beading for added dimension and texture. Executed with signature elan in a vivid colour palette of greens, yellows, and browns, the result is a whimsical orchard brimming with stylised ivy, ferns, gourds, and pear trees.
