– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –

Nordic Garden is a sparse and pretty scene designed by Michael S. Smith for de Gournay: a more rustic and pared-back Chinoiserie motif than those of the established collection.

Inspired by the antique wallpapers of Svindersvik – a Rococo-era mansion near Stockholm with a muted Chinoiserie distinctly Scandinavian in character – the design is hand-painted in an evergreen palette onto a softly mottled cream-colored India Tea Paper with washes of translucent sky-blue pigment that streak through the background.
