Original colourway on Melt Water India tea paper

Original colourway on Melt Water India tea paper

Blooming Magnolia Trees grow up from a rocky ground which features occasional clusters of small flowers. Trees of smaller, more delicate blooms intercept the large Magnolias. The design is inspired by Rinpa style Edo period screens, utilising a semi opaque, inky painting style with pools of ink adding a mottled effect to the rocks and branches.
