Rubens on gilded paper with antiquing

Labrado Tooled Leather

Rubens on gilded paper with antiquing

– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –

Inspired by Cuir de Cordoue leather panels that were introduced to Europe as early as the 9th century as an alternative to Tapestry.  The gilt embossed panels were popular in Spain up until the 17th Century, when the skilled craft eventually made its way to the northern Europe and flourished there until the advent of printed wallpaper. Embossed wallcoverings have been developed over the years to imitate antique tooled leather, and here we use our bas relief technique to replicate the richness and texture of the original.
