In de Gournay’s Badminton design tree peonies and tulip trees stretch across the paper but maintain a very open feel through being less densely used than in many other designs. This leaves spaces between the branches and foliage to better show off the pretty birds perched in and flying between them or the occasional butterfly flitting from one blossom to another. Combined with the relatively plain style of the ground these attributes lead to Badminton having a straight forward uncomplicated style that many clients find works well everywhere, but especially in more contemporary decoration schemes.
