Standard colourway on Emerald Green India tea paper

Standard colourway on Emerald Green India tea paper

While many of our Chinoiserie designs have been adjusted for contemporary interiors, Abbotsford is an unmodified reproduction of some of the most impressive antique panels we have encountered. A densely packed design featuring figures, animals, and exotic birds amidst a variety of plants that would be found in a fine oriental garden. The original model is a rare set of panels attributed to the late Qianlong period and is named after a very similar surviving set that hangs in the drawing-room at Abbotsford, Sir Walter Scott's home in Scotland.
