Martelé

Gold metallic silk with antiquing and embroidery

– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –

‘Martelé’ pays homage to a remarkable Art Deco sideboard by the French decorative masters Jean Dunand and Eugene Printz. Evoking the look of tortoiseshell, the sideboard’s patinated brass base is emulated through a mottled ground that is hand-painted upon an antiqued gilded silk. To echo its distinctive pattern of geometric columns and spots etched in silver, the wallpaper is embroidered by hand for texture and dimension using metal threads, beading, and softwire.
