– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –

An interpretation of the impressive mural from The Peacock Room created by James McNeil Whistler between 1876-1877, a masterpiece of the Anglo-Japanese style. Originally designed as a dining room for the London townhouse of British shipping magnate Frederick Richards Leyland, it is now preserved in the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington DC. The scene depicts a pair of sparring ruffled peacocks that have scattered coins at their feet. Our design maintains the full drama and stylised character of the original.
