Porto by Alessandra Branca
Original colourway on dyed paper
– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –
Inspired by the blue and white Azulejos tiles that have graced Portuguese architecture since the 13th Century, ‘Porto’ was designed by Alessandra Branca. The motif is hand-painted in a single shade of blue which is diluted with water to create the varying depths of colour seen in the design. Each hand painted ‘tile’ is then glazed individually and the resulting contrast between the glossy painted ‘tiles’ and the matt painted ‘grout’ lines further enhances the trompe l’oeil effect.
