The Hunt
Original colourway on silver gilded paper with desargenter pearlescent antiquing
– ABOUT THIS DESIGN –
A striking design portraying Panthers stalking Zebra amidst spawning cacti – a motif that has its roots in the gilded decor of early 20th Century America. The design references a Charles Baskerville mural of a lunging Panther and rearing Zebra, installed within a villa designed by Elsie de Wolfe in the heart of Hollywood. Marlene Dietrich bestowed the interior with a lasting fame after being photographed before the Baskerville mural when renting the villa for a period in the 1930’s.
